Following the success of the IP (Intellectual Property) cell in Madras University, the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology is set to open another cell in Bharatidasan University on April 24, and similar cells in other universities.
S. Vincent, member-secretary of the Council, said that the Patent Information Centre (PIC) set up by the Council had been managing the IP cell in Madras University since June 2007. Five workshops had been conducted and the Council had helped in drafting of a few patents.
While the IP cell in Bharatidasan University would be inaugurated on April 24, an IP cell would start functioning in Madurai Kamaraj University from June and in Manonmaniam Sundaranar and Bharathiyar University from July.
The Council was also proposing to start IP cells in technical universities, he said.
