Everyone of us might have crossed this situation in life or we might probably be living in this situation.

Needs and wants in our life wins over our dreams and aims in life, very easily. It needs lot of courage, bravery and risk taking mentality to cross this particular situation and win over the fate!

This is a recent incident in our organization. One of our officers had to leave for a want or need in life to earn some money and support his family, while his dream is to serve the society, mentally challenged and poor.

One of the ways of loosing your customer

It is very difficult to acquire a customer to your place to buy your products. The next challenging thing to do is retaining that particular customer to buy your products more or less the same he was buying.

Here is an incident, I recently came across in Virginia, USA.

I went to a grocery store in our neighbourhood on a saturday evening and bought things for myself, and stood in the queue, which was really really long.

There were only three counters opened. It could have been easier to all of the customers, if more counters were opened.

When I was in the middle of the queue, I saw every customer seeing the length of the queue and giving strange shocking expressions, which was appropriate in fact!

One old lady who was having two milk items, saw this long queue and asked an employee - why don't you guys open another counter. The employee said - "we don't have any more cashiers madam. Sorry about that".

You know what that old lady said - "Well, this purchase of two or three items is not worth standing in this queue"!! and she stepped out, leaving her cart on the side!

Well the grocery stores company lost this customer and she will say this to lot many people, which is going to affect these guys' business!!

It is better the grocery store introspects and corrects themselves!!
These kind of mistakes happen, but it is better we correct them as a precautionary measure or corrective measure, whichever is applicable.

Note: the grocery store name is not exposed here!

Trichy - Promise and Potential Industries

I hit on an article, which is dated as year 2002, but it is still a valid article.
If you are really interested about the improvement or updates of Southern Tamil Nadu, then you have to read this article.

Some of the excerpts from this particle article --

R. Dinesh, executive director, T.V. Sundram Iyengar and Sons Limited, Trichy, feels not enough is being done to promote southern Tamil Nadu as a destination for industries. It was seen as a tourist centre. "Even there, people visit the pilgrim centres of Trichy and Rameswaram in transit, and not as destinations in themselves."

Although southern Tamil Nadu does not lack in any major infrastructure, what deters investors is the lack of easy accessibility. It has poor air links. There is no airport in Tirunelveli or Kanyakumari. Trichy has air links only with Chennai and Mumbai, that too one flight a day. Dinesh said: "The perception of foreign companies is that Trichy is difficult to reach." A company from Spain gave up the idea of setting up shop at Trichy because it would take their executives three days to reach Trichy or any place in the south. Road connections are also poor. The East Coast Road, from Chennai to Kanyakumari, has not been completed. Train facilities are inadequate.

Lack of information is another deterrent. Dinesh said: "You have to create an impression among people that Trichy and Tirunelveli are the places to be in. The Confederation of Indian Industry should try to promote southern Tamil Nadu as a destination."

Sekar Ponniah's friends "ridiculed" him for returning to his home town of Tirunelveli from the United States and told him about the area being a "communal hotspot" and of the lack of infrastructure. But he stuck to his decision. His Global Software Solutions (Tirunelveli) Private Limited, on the outskirts of Tirunelveli town, employs about 30 engineers. "For software, the main infrastructure needed is communication. To develop data, you can be anywhere. You can be at Tirunelveli or Courtalam, and transfer the data from a hut," Sekar Ponniah said. Global Software Solutions concentrates on providing the software for supply chain management and logistics, inventory control, warehouse management, enterprise resource solution, and the health care industry.
