Clash among students in PTR College, Thirumangalam/Tirumangalam Trichy.

Looks like there was dislike between 2nd year BE students and 3/4th year BE students sometime back. Today, the clash happenned to occur between these two set of groups. The college properties like windows, chairs, tables etc., were broken. College Management is seriously upset.

The above part is a news!

However, is this the situation in Trichy Colleges? Is education not part of College teachings? Is this the standard of students in Trichy?!

I am like a stupid writing/blogging positive things about Trichy and Trichy students!? I wish things change or I will pray god that let all the above be an exception!!!

RR Industries Trichy Ongoing Project: TRICHY TOWNSHIP

We have been hearing about RR Industries building the township in Trichy for IT Park. Here is their official information about their plan and township in Trichy -

This extract is from their website. Please read on -

RRI’s latest venture at Trichy, which will be developed by Rudradev Township Private Limited a Special Purpose Vehicle promoted by RRI. It will have all the core elements of function and quality with other equally essential ingredients, cutting edge technology, clean aesthetic design and affordability to produce a state of the art infrastructure facility.

It is proposed to build a township for the IT park facility just outside the city of Trichy in the name of Rudradev Township Private Limited. The main reason is that the present infrastructure in Trichy is not very good. So it is better to create the entire setup on the outskirts. The township will be one of the best in the country.

There will be no need for people staying in the township to go anywhere. It is estimated that 75000 people will work in the IT parks and a total of 90,000 people will work in the township so supporting 25000 families will be no problem.

300 acres of land is being bought for the same and may go up to 750 acres. The land is located 5 km south of the airport and 12 km south of the center of city. It is on a National highway which is being widened from a 2 lane to a 4 lane highway

CONNECTIVITY

The proposed site is about 6 Kms from Trichy Airport and about 15 Kms from Railway Station. The proposed site is on Trichy Aruppukottai Road. In terms of road connectivity, the proposed site is well connected and has regular bus services plying on both the access roads. The roads have the potential to be made very wide.

MS Subbulakshmi from Trichy - Trichy Carnatic Vocalist

Trichy Shanmukhavadivu Subbulakshmi (Maturai Cha?mukava?ivu Chuppula?chumi), popularly known as M.S. or M.S.S.) (September 16, 1916 - December 11, 2004) was a renowned Carnatic vocalist. She was the first musician ever to be awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor.

M.S.Subbulakhsmi was born to Shanmukhavadivu (Veena Vidwan) and Subramaniya Iyer on 16 Sep,1916 in a musical family, in the temple town of Trichy situated in the state of Tamil Nadu in South India. M.S. started learning Carnatic music from a very early age and released her first recording at the age of 10. She then began her Carnatic classical music training under Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer and then Hindustani classical training under Pandit Narayan Rao Vyas. Her first public performance was during the Mahamaham festival at Kumbakonam. Then, she performed countless musical forms in different languages such as Hindi, Bengali , Gujarati , Marathi, Tamil , Malayalam, Telugu , Sanskrit and Kannada.

M.S. met T.Sadasivam|Sadasivam, a freedom fighter, and a follower of Rajaji, in 1936. She married him in 1940 and their marriage spanned over 50 years. They had no children. Sadasivam had children from his previous marriage that M.S. treated as if they were her own children. They were named Radha, Vijaya. M.S and Sadasivam also raised Radha who frequently sang with M.S. in concert while Vijaya played the Tanpura.

Subbulakshmi had participated in music concerts all over the world,but her participation in the concerts at New York in 1970,London in 1982 and Moscow in 1987 had a special significance in her life.17 January,2001 was a very important day in karnatak classical music when M.S.Subbulakshmi was given a national award by Ramaseva Mandal in bangaluru.She was the first woman who recived this prestigious award

Rani (Queen) Mangammal from Trichy

The history of Trichy will not be complete without mentioning the name of Rani Mangammal, the woman of great skill and sagacity. History does not provide many instances of ruling queens in Tamil Nadu. Though it was considered that women were not suited to succeed the throne of a kingdom, Rani Mangammmal, however shines in almost solitary eminence as an able and powerful ruler in Tamil Nadu.

Rani Mangammal (1689—1704) was a queen regent on behalf of her grandson, in the Trichy Nayak kingdom in present day Tamil Nadu, India, towards the end of the century. She was a popular administrator and is still widely remembered as a maker of roads and avenues, and a builder of temples, tanks and choultries with many of her public works still in use. She is also known for her diplomatic and political skills and successful military campaigns. The capital of Trichy Kingdom during her times was Tiruchirapalli.

History of Trichy in a gist

Trichy is one of the oldest cities of India, with a history dating all the way back to the Sangam period of the pre-Christian era. The glory of Trichy returned in a diminished form in the earlier part of this millennium; it later on came under the rule of the Vijayanagar kingdom after being ransacked by the ravaging armies of Delhi (Malik Kafur). During the 16th and 18th centuries, Trichy was ruled by the Nayak Emperors, the foremost of whom was Tirumalai Nayakar. The Sangam period poet Nakkeerar is associated with some of the Tiruvilayaadal episodes of Sundareswarar - that are enacted as a part of temple festival traditions even today.

The Sangam age or the Golden age of Tamil literature – produced masterpieces way back in the pre-Christian era and in early 1st Millennium Trichy was the seat of the Tamil Sangam or Academy of learning. The entire city of Trichy, is built around the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple – the temple par excellence. Concentric rectangular streets surround the temple, symbolizing the structure of the cosmos.

As early as the 3rd century BC, Megasthanes visited Trichy. Later many people from Rome and Greece visited Trichy and established trade with the Pandya kings. Trichy flourished until the 10th century AD when it was captured by Cholas, the archrivals of the Pandyas.

The Cholas ruled Trichy from 920 AD till the beginning of the 13th century. In 1223 AD Pandyas regained their kingdom and once again become prosperous. Pandian Kings patronised Tamil language in a great way. During their period, many masterpieces were created. "Silapathikaram", the great epic in Tamil was written based on the story of Kannagi who burnt Trichy as a result of the injustice caused to her husband Kovalan. In April 1311, Malik Kafur, the general of Alauddin Khilji who was then the ruler of Delhi, reached Trichy and raided and robbed the city for precious stones, jewels, and other rare treasures. This led to the subsequent raids by other Muslim Sultans. In 1323, the Pandya kingdom including Trichy became a province of the Delhi Empire, under the Tughlaks.

The 1371, the Vijayanagar dynasty of Hampi captured Trichy and it became part of the Vijayanagar empire. Kings of this dynasty were in habit of leaving the captured land to governors called Nayaks. This was done for the efficient management of their empire. The Nayaks paid fixed amount annually to the Vijayanagar Empire. After the death of Krishna Deva Raya (King of Vijayanagar empire) in 1530 AD, the Nayaks became independent and ruled the territories under their control. Among Nayaks, Thirumalai Nayak (1623-1659) was very popular, even now he is popular among people, since, it was he who contributed to the creation of many magnificent structures in and around Trichy. The Raja Gopuram of the Meenakshi Amman Temple, The Pudu Mandapam and The Thirumalai Nayakar's Palace are living monuments to his artistic fervor.

Trichy started slipping into the hands of the British's East India Company. In 1781, British appointed their representatives to look after Trichy. George Procter was the first collector of Trichy.

Now after India's independence, Trichy is one of the major districts of Tamilnadu State. Later on Trichy district was bifurcated into two districts namely Trichy and Dindugul Districts. In Trichy District, there are 15 state assembly constituencies and two parliament constituencies.

Trichy Chicken 65

When I used to grow up in Trichy, I crave for chicken 65, which are made in streets.
They are deep fried, in some oil, which I am not sure is good or not.

But, one thing is sure - Chicken 65 on the streets are very tasty.

I used to enjoy the Mutton Soups sold in the Palanganatham streets(near Nataraj Theatre) trichy, which might not be very healthy. Parotta in Subbiah kadai(now it is renamed as Nagaraj Parotta Stall Hotel) opposite Nataraj theatre.

I enjoy chicken 65 in the entrance of town hall road, trichy.

I enjoy avicha kadalai(boiled ground nuts) on the town hall road.

I used to get some magazines in town hall road and walk with avicha kadalai. Read some books in the bookshops like Malligai book shop and other stores in the same street. Walk up and down and get back to my hero honda bike:).

This was my major timepass in Trichy:)

I wanted to build a conglomerate, since I have been growing up with TVS. I believe that is the inspiration for anybody who have grown up in Trichy.

TVS Company is great because - on those days they have started varied companies in various domains and have given jobs to the local community in Trichy. I like the fact that many families earned and many familes have lived in Trichy.

In my perspective, TVS company is professional, conservative, organized and have landed in most of the businesses in Trichy and they do business internationally too.

Anyway, the reason of the blog was to say that TVS Company is my inspiration. TVS Company has been doing great, giving employment to the trichy community. I am sure TVS will still favour Trichy in future too.
