A rare "awake cardiac surgery", in which the patient remains awake throughout the procedure, has been performed by a private hospital Trichy Meenakshi Mission Hospital here on a 53-year-old bus conductor.
This procedure avoids the anaesthetic tube for the patient and patient can talk and be awake while the surgery is happenning.
This seems to be the first time in Tamil Nadu - first in Trichy...
