Aviation academy for Tiruchi

The fleet of Cessna aircraft to be operated by the V.K.N. Aviation Academy at the airport in Tiruchi

V.K.N. Aviation Academy, a private entity, is all set to launch its operations with a capacity to train 100 students at a given point of time.

The institution has acquired five new four-seater Cessna aircraft with the latest ‘glass cockpit’ feature – most academies train pilots with analog cockpit – for the purpose. The flight that is preferred internationally for training purpose can cruise at a normal speed of 120 knots at a height of 13,500 feet above sea level. According to academy chairman V.K.N. Kannappan, the institution has quality infrastructure and the pilot-aspirants from this part of the State need not have to go abroad for training. In fact, candidates, pursuing pilot-training abroad, need to take tests in India for conversion. The academy has put in place the system to ensure that a zealous candidate – the minimum qualification is Plus Two with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and the right medical fitness – could complete the training within a year, clocking a minimum of 200 flying hours and completing the rigorous theoretical tests, the Managing Director of the academyV.K.N. Raja told The Hindu. “We are looking forward to the launch of the academy in the coming month,” said Captain Raja.

According to information, there is just one aviation academy - Madras Flying Club, Chennai to train pilots. The Coimbatore Aviation Training Academy is not operational.
