Chettinad Cement to expand capacity at Dindigul

Projects Today reported that Chettinad Cement Corporation plans to add 2 million tonne per annum cement capacity at its Dindigul unit in Karikkal village, Tamil Nadu. The company's board recently cleared the INR 500 crore investment proposal.

Currently, it has a 1.4 million tonne unit and a 15 MW captive power plant at Dindigul.

The company's ongoing expansion plan at Ariyalur in Trichy district is progressing as per schedule. The first phase of the INR 450 crore expansion is expected to be commissioned in March 2009. At Ariyalur the company is setting up a 2 million tonne per annum cement plant supported by a 30 MW captive power plant in phases.
