Private industrial park in Tiruchi beckons engineering units

MADURAI: A private industrial park near Tiruchi, spread across 600 acres and having a vantage location on the national highway, has invited small and heavy units to setup their facility at their site with the promise of world-class infrastructure and connectivity to major cities and port.

Located along the Lalgudi Road off Tiruchi-Chennai Highway, GK Industrial Park offers a complete eco-system to industrial units including wide roads, power supply, sewage treatment, technical infrastructure specifically designed to support heavy engineering industries and training facilities.

A unit could be set up and operationalised within 90 days, claim the parks' promoters.

The industrial park is being developed by G.K. Industrial Park Pvt. Ltd., a company promoted by industrialist K.G. Muralidharan and IL & FS Investment Managers Limited. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, the park's Chief Executive S.Senguttuvan said that it was located centrally between major cities such as Chennai, Coimbatore and Bangalore. Further, a port was located within two hours of drive. Several prefabrication units have already commenced operations, he added.

Mr.Muralidharan said the park provided high quality infrastructure to units, which just have to plug their machinery.

The developers were planning to lay optical fibre that would provide state-of-the-art infrastructure to information technology companies. “We are positioning our park to provide all that is required for an industry to be run effectively. With government grant, a special purpose vehicle is coming up at 15 acres along with a common facility centre,” he added.
