Tiruchi firm to manufacture air filters

TIRUCHI: Baby Engineering Private Limited (BEPL), Tiruchi, has entered into a tie-up with Camfil FARR Power Systems (CFPS), Sweden, an international leader in air filtration systems, to manufacture air filters that protect turbines for domestic and global markets.

The BEPL got an exclusive fabrication shop for CFPS commissioned on Thursday at Devarayaneri. Executive Director of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Tiruchi, A.V. Krishnan, opened the office building and K.N. Ramajayam, Chairman, Janani Group of Companies, Tiruchi, commissioned the plant.

P.K.S.V. Sagar, Chief Operating Officer, Camfil-India, and Saradha Sagar started off the operation of the Press Brake Machine and CNC Plasma Cutting Machine respectively. And the Grit Blasting Booth and Paint Booth were opened by Peter Sandberg, Managing Director, CFPS, Sweden, and Henning Marwege, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, CFPS, Germany.

As per the memorandum of understanding, Camfil will set quality standards and facilitate technical support to BEPL to achieve international requirements, and the latter has to ensure deployment of skilled labour and maintenance of global health and safety standards.

Terming the joint venture a matter of pride, Mr. Krishnan said the new manufacturing unit symbolised the transformation brought in by entrepreneurs initially fostered by BHEL to raise the status of Tiruchi as a manufacturing hub serving domestic and international markets.

Tiruchi has demonstrated growth both vertically in terms of the rise in the number of industries and increasing turnover, and horizontally going by the spectrum of products. Mr. Krishnan assured the support of industry fraternity, complimenting the CFPS for taking the right decision.

Mr. Ramajayam said that India being a safe and peaceful destination, foreign investors can feel certain about fulfilling their aspirations, particularly in Tamil Nadu.

Tiruchi was the right place to feel confident about expansion of operations, he said.

High quality air filters will be manufactured at the Plant, Mr. Henning Marwege said, exuding hope that the product will have a flying start in India.

Now that a good foundation has been laid, reliability and success in quality through implementation of the procedures by qualified people, said Mr. Peter Sandberg. Thanking Camfil for providing the opportunity and seeing through the fructification of the project through technical, commercial and financial assistance, the Managing Director of BEPL B. Amirthakasi said the Plant has employed manpower trained to international standards.
