Since there is IT park coming up in Vadapazhanji area in Trichy, it was evaluated that there is a possibility of lot of traffic from Tirunagar area and traffic from Theni area in future. If anybody has to go to Trichy Airport from Theni or Thirunagar area in Trichy, they have to go a long way via Palgalai nagar, Vadapazhanji, Thirunagar, Kappalur, Ring road to reach Trichy Airport. This leads too much time and lot of petrol wastage.

Hence, there was a proposal for a road from Tirunagar to Trichy Airport and it is approved by Tamil Nadu State Transport.

Great! It is an infrastructure improvement in Trichy and at the same time Trichy Real Estate will have great improvement in that area.

I think I have written about this before in one of our previous articles - here it is.

I was looking around for Trichy news and all I was finding was about Trichy's civil cases - like someone killed somebody, divorce, suicide cases and some corporation news or at times "long-time same status" infrastructure news like Airport, IT Park etc., I really was looking for improvement or criticism news about Trichy with photos.

If that was not available, I thought of doing so. Anyway, I was able to find that kind of improvement news in dinamalar.

The issues like Lot of Posters are there in all kinds of walls in Trichy. The issues like animals are all around trichy and nobody cares about it. The issues like broken roads, crazy traffic in trichy and rules not being followed etc., The interesting thing is that the improvement or issues articles are posted with photos.

Economy of Trichy as of Jan 2010 - a reality check

Please see my previous article about people in trichy and their classification based on salaries. That should tell about the different kinds of people in Trichy.

I have written a similar article in April of 2009 for Economy of Trichy - a reality check in 2009.

At any case - let us check the status now:

One major complaint in Trichy economy is there is no major manufacturing divisions started up. Anything started up recently are retail outlets, refined grocery outlets, service outlets of different companies, shops etc., which sell things, insurance, banking etc.,

Only when there are more than 70% manufacturing companies, then only there is a significant improvement in economy of Trichy. In fact, there is reduction in number of manufacturing companies. On those days, atleast Fenner was great. But there are countable ones - Fenner, TVS companies etc.,

Every individual who works thinks of a secondary income and gets the compulsion of starting off something by himself, while he does the day job. While this happens, they always end up doing only service stuff and they don't create anything.

It is always only a share of existing money in Trichy. Only when outside companies come into Trichy and invest and give employment opportunities to Trichy people then only we get the actual productivity of Trichy and improvement in economy of Trichy.

Anyway, overall - it is good for Trichy's entrepreneurs to grow with new thinking of starting something of their own.

There has to be big companies coming in and giving employment to 100s and 1000s of people in Trichy - then there would be some difference and impact in trichy economy. In fact, any government concentration is only on north and not in southern parts of tamil nadu. If they concentrate, then there would be significant contribution from Trichy and southern districts as well.

What is Trichy today? Trichy is still a historic place, like india it is a developing city - but never developed. Trichy is filled with gangsters and survival of the fittest proves physically only. Trichy's talents are moving out of Trichy for employment and career improvement to other cities, due to under-industrialization and under-IT ecosystem.

Trichy's potential relies on Tourism for ages together - but not tapped to the full extent - at least not to my satisfaction. Trichy is great for IT and ITeS operations, but not completely used. Trichy is great for an export oriented facilities. Trichy is under-infrastructured in terms of air and road.

There is a great talent pool which is still connected to Trichy, but lives outside Trichy. Whoever is living in Trichy are speechless and helpless under the clutches of the political and physical powers.

Solution snapshot:

If there is a strong force of NRIs and NRMs coming and settling in Trichy, that would change a lot of Trichy to Great Trichy. Do you understand what I am saying?

If there is a strong self-driven REVERSE-BRAIN-DRAIN happens in Trichy, then no one can stop Trichy's improvement!

Here is how I am thinking reverse brain drain to Trichy will help Trichy become GREAT TRICHY.

1) All the NRIs and NRMs(Non-Resident Trichyites - say b'lore/hyd/chennai living) would start businesses.

2) Lot of legal money would pool into Trichy.

3) Great Teachers with new(international) perspectives would mould children to a great future.

4) There will be lot of Non-Profit Organizations(Non-Governmental Organizations - NGOs) started, noticing/realizing the unacceptable behaviour of Trichy.

5) New employment opportunities would happen, due to new businesses and industries.

6) World class Medical facilities and medical professionals would be available for help in health.

7) There would be a strong need to make Trichy like Singapore or any other country.

This would change TRICHY TO GREAT TRICHY AND NEW TRICHY

Once Holy Teppakulam of Perumal Kovil is now place of thorny shrubs.
I am writing about Teppakulam at Town Hall Road.
It was converted to rain water storage area unsuccessfully and still
we find rain water stagnating before Railway station whereas the Teppa
kulam remains dry.Worse atill drainage water from nearby hotels and
shops around are left into the Teppakulam.
Can the shops around the Teppakulam be removed and the Teppakulam be
used as a open space for fresh air,benches neatly laid (No Shops) with
steps on all four sides descending down.
Maybe with a small fountain at the centre.

This article is my own personal, individual prediction, thinking and not intended to hurt anyone.

My grandfather was born and brought up in Vadivelkarai, a village in Trichy. For job reasons, my father had to search and find job in Trichy, which is a major city near the village. When I completed my graduation, I had to move to Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai and US.

I am going to compare the same situation to Trichy today. Given that Trichy does not get any industries; Trichy is contaminated with same politicians and no development happens; Trichy does not improve its infrastructure; Trichy does not germinate more and more entrepreneurs, then in 20-30 years Trichy would become the same Vadivelkarai situation, as I explained in the previous paragraph.

Old, elderly people and last generation folks would only stay on in Trichy.
Politicians, Vatti-kku panam koduppavan, few government officials, Old shop owners.

I hope and trust this should not happen and I wish inverse of this happens. Trichy develops and a reverse brain drain happens. Everyone from Trichy who have gone out of the city should come back and develop the Trichy city.

Karur Hospital upgrades

Six Government hospitals in Karur district are set to get new and additional buildings at an estimated cost of Rs 7 crores. Civil works have commenced for the projects. It has also been planned to upgrade facilities in 270 Government hospitals across the State at a cost of Rs 55 crores.

Mr Karunanidhi will also lay the foundation stones for the much awaited Trichy North Ilandhaikulam Information Technology Park and Trichy South Vadapalanji Information Technology Park at a function to be held at the Trichy Airport on the same day.

Union Minister for Shipping, Road Transport and Highways T R Baalu and Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Praful Patel would also participate, the news sources added.

THE industrial and textile city of Coimbatore is in the throes of a big change. For the past three years, it has witnessed ceaseless activity in every area – real estate, foundry, engineering industry, civil aviation, information technology, textiles, hospitality, health care, education and poultry farming. However, the resulting economic boom has brought in its wake a host of problems, and the optimistic mood that prevailed earlier is now tempered with caution.

If the six-laning of the arterial Avanashi Road and the cutting down of hundreds of trees lining the road for this purpose are the most visible form of activity, there are numerous entrepreneurial activities taking place quietly. For instance, the construction of a massive Trade Fair Complex with five halls and with a total built-up area of 30,000 square metres. Two halls, big enough to hold industrial exhibitions, and a food court of international standards are the latest additions. The Trade Fair Complex is the flagship project of the Coimbatore District Small Industries Association (CODISSIA). It is gearing up to host the biennial Industrial Technological Fair from February 1 to 6. About 450 participants are expected to showcase different types of CNC machines, hydraulic presses, general engineering machinery, welding machinery, construction equipment, gearboxes, motor pumps, and so on. Fourteen foreign countries are also participating.

C. Muthusami, the low-profile president of the association, said: “CODISSIA is the first district association in India to own a trade fair complex. The complex is spread over 40 acres. The entire complex has been built without any assistance from the government. The first phase, which involved the construction of three gigantic halls, was completed in just 155 days.”

In April, Suguna Kalyana Mandapam will host a “Made in Coimbatore” exhibition organised by the Lions Club of Coimbatore Gems. The city has pioneered many products – wet grinders, household appliances and domestic and irrigation pumps, to name a few.

“What is not made in Coimbatore?” asked N.S. Kumar, chairman, Yenyeskey Machine Tools, Coimbatore, who is striving to make the exhibition a success. “The people of Coimbatore themselves do not know the range of products made here. Wet grinders were first made here. Different types of textile machinery have their origins in Coimbatore.” If there was hype about Coimbatore being the second information technology hub in Tamil Nadu after Chennai, it is becoming a reality. After a delay of about 15 months, the first steps have been taken for the construction of TIDEL Park, Coimbatore (TPCL). It is a joint venture of the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO), the Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT), the TIDEL Park and the Software Technology Park of India (STPI). The success of the TIDEL Park in Chennai has encouraged its promoters to build a second TIDEL Park, in Coimbatore, which will be a massive plug-and-pay building complex for IT companies. It will have three basements, ground floor and four upper floors, a total built-up area of 1,61,500 sq m. Bids have been invited for building this sophisticated complex with civil and allied works at an estimated cost of Rs.140 crore. The complex will come up at ELCOT’s Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for IT at Vilankurichi.

Multi-product SEZ in Tirunelveli: Nanguneri Project: Nearby districts of Trichy

A memorandum of understanding to establish a multi-product first Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Nanguneri, Tirunelveli, was signed in presence of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi at the Secretariat Thursday.

The estimated Rs 15,000 crore project will be implemented by Tamilnadu government with assistance from Tamilnadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO) on 2,520 acres and aims to provide employment to 70,000 people. This is great for both job seekers and for the potential entrepreneurs.

The project would be jointly executed by TIDCO, AMR group of companies and AMRL International Tech City Ltd. The products that would be manufactured here include spareparts for engineering and medical utilities, electrical and electronic products, information technology, along with biological products and transportation units in the first phase.

Trichy to contribute to TN(Tamil Nadu) software exports in year 2009

The special economic zones for IT-ITeS industry in Coimbatore, Trichy, Tiruchirapalli, Salem, Tirunelveli, Hosur and Vellore announced by the state government were with an intention of increasing the software exports, Tamil Nadu State Chief Minister Karunanidhi said.

Tamil Nadu's software exports are expected to cross Rs 26,000 crore during the current fiscal, state Chief Minister said in Chennai. Rs 14,400 crore in 2005-06, rose to Rs 20,700 crore during the previous fiscal.

It is expected to rise again to Rs.26000 Crore for the year 2009.

Boost Refined Cotton Exports and Textile Park in Trichy near Vadippatti, Trichy

Tamil Nadu Government and Central Government of India are planning to boost the production of refined cotton products in Trichy.

Due to uncontrolled exports of raw cotton to various countries, the production of refined cotton products is affected. The weavers are not getting enough raw cotton.
This is mainly felt in Karur and Tirupur too.

Union Minister of State, Mr.E.V.K.S. Elangovan announced that another textile park would come up in Trichy at a cost of Rs 70 crore, the funds for which had been allocated by the Centre. The state should select a site to set up the park. A site had already been selected at Vadipatti for another park in Trichy district at a cost of Rs 30-40 crore.

International Flight by June in Trichy: Trichy Airport

Trichy Airport to have an international flight by June

In a recent CII meeting, Dindigul MP NSV Chitthan had said that there will be an international flight from/to Trichy to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Gulf Countries, Sri Lanka, South East Asia etc.,

Speaking at a function organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Trichy Zone, to formally present the report on ‘Traffic potential at Trichy airport’, here, on Wednesday, Chitthan said that the Union Minister for Civil Aviation had given him an assurance on the operation of an international flight from Trichy by June when he represented the demand of the people in southern districts of Tamil Nadu to him.

Speaking on the occasion, T Kannan, former chairman, CII (Southern Region), underscored the importance to focus on second-tier cities to boost economic growth. Expressing concern over the absence of economic boom in the southern region of the State, Kannan said Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai to a certain extent, were benefited by the boom that was sweeping the world while it was yet to reach other cities.

Clean and Green Trichy

Clean and Green Trichy is one of the key things which will facilitate our tourism. Again there are three tasks. Slight relation with KAIZEN. First - Clean the whole Trichy. Second - Maintain the clean and green trichy. Third - Bringing in new improvements and procedures(probably LAW) for proactively clean New Trichy, rather than reactive solution. Bring in the student population and use their time effectively, for cleaning whole of Trichy. If we have to take up the reactive solution, maintenance is going to be tough and costly. If we put the rules and laws across, then we don't need to spend time and money on maintenance. Give options for bigshots, businessmen for adopting certain areas for improvement. Calling 555 for cleaner Trichy enforcement force.

Individual Trichy's responsibility

If every citizen has the following idea in mind in order to take the responsibility, we have the synergy to accomplish the task. Feel that whole Trichy is one entity. It is all team work doing various tasks, but the goal is same. Every citizen should feel that first of all individual task has to be performed for individual improvement, next comes family, next comes his relatives improvement, next comes community, next comes the street improvement, next comes improvement of section of trichy, next comes whole city improvement. If everybody realizes this basic idea, we are on right track.

Trichy to New Trichy - High Level Action Items and Tasks

There are three main tasks to be carried out. One is solving the existing problems, next is improvement of the solved Trichy, next is taking Trichy to a world class place. Time period for creation of New Trichy will take a lifetime. Before 2030. This is going to be Vision 2030.
